Wednesday 8th March 2017: This year sees the 20th anniversary of the late Princess’s death. To mark her compassion, kindness and service, The Diana Award, the only charity to bear her name, has launched the inaugural Legacy Award for 20 exceptional young people.
The Diana Award, set up in memory of The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry’s mother, Diana, is committed to fostering change through practical action with young people. The special Legacy Award calls out to communities and groups across the world to nominate 20 young persons upholding the Princess’s values of compassion, kindness and service.
20 exceptional young people from across the world, aged 9-18 will be selected for their selfless commitment to transforming the lives of others with a special Legacy Ceremony in St James’ Palace on 18th May 2017.
Recipients will have access to a unique development programme which will provide them with the opportunity to enhance their skills in four key areas; leadership, community development, social entrepreneurship and technology for good.
Recipients will be selected from a poll of nominations by an independent judging panel chaired by Dame Julia Clevedon, Founder of Step Up To Serve. The deadline for nominations is Friday 17 March 2017. To nominate visit www.diana-award.org.uk
To mark this 20th Anniversary year The Diana Award will also be launching a commemorative website celebrating Princess Diana’s legacy – www.dianaslegacy.co.uk – members of the public will be invited to add their thoughts and memories to the website.
