Over half of Brits have experienced bullying at school

These stats are released for The Diana Award’s #StandUpToBullying Day on Wednesday 13 June. The campaign urges the nation to take a collective stand against bullying in the home, workplace, school, sports, online and all parts of society.

New figures released by an online YouGov poll, commissioned by The Diana Award, reveal that bullying continues into adulthood with over one in four working adults (30%) saying they believe bullying occurs in the workplace. Over half of all GB adults (55%) have experienced bullying at school with 69% saying their confidence has been affected as a result.

Celebrities sharing their experiences of bullying and showing their support for the campaign include: Kimberly Walsh, Frankie Sandford-Bridge, Scarlett Moffatt, Michelle Heaton, Brooke Vincent, Cesc Fàbregas, Rebecca Adlington and Will Poulter.

The Diana Award is encouraging everyone to get behind Stand Up to Bullying Day on social media using the hashtag #StandUpToBullying and sharing how they are standing up to bullying in five words. Schools are getting involved by running ‘Upstander’ anti-bullying lessons and workplaces are encouraged to develop and publicise their anti-bullying policy.
